TEETH WHITENING

Professional teeth whitening using gels prescribed by the dentist is a highly effective way of improving the appearance of your smile. Teeth whitening is illegal to be done by anyone but a trained dental practitioner.

VOCO is a professional teeth whitening treatment that is dentist prescribed & a quick way to a whiter smile.

The clients treatment journey begins with a consultation including dental health check to ensure the client is suitable. At the consultation, if suitable a custom moulded tray is made. This is then collected along with the whitening syringes for use at home.

Perfect Bleach uses 10% or 16% carbamide peroxide (corresponds to 3.5% or 3.6% hydrogen peroxide) for the gentle whitening of vital & non-vital teeth. Whitening removes stains that are present & lightens the colour of your teeth. Trays are worn overnight or during the day for 6-8 hours initially with a desired result usually being achieved after 10 days. Top-up treatments can then be done as required. This varies depending on factors such as whether you smoke & the amount of red wine or coffee that you drink.

Results vary between individuals and generally a top up can be administered at around 6 months later.

All treatments are performed by dentist Dr Kirsty.

The main side-effect of teeth whitening is sensitivity.

Up to 70% of people who have teeth whitening will experience some form of sensitivity, from mild discomfort to severe pain.

Some people may also feel some slight irritation of the gums or lips. Both of these effects are temporary & will resolve.

Hydrogen peroxide & carbamide peroxide used will not damage your teeth.

Teeth whitening is one of the most researched cosmetic procedures in the world. As a result there is lots of evidence to support the effectiveness & safety if correct protocols are observed.

Teeth whitening will only work to whiten the natural teeth. It will not lighten existing dental work at all.

Be aware that you may need to change any crowns, veneers or fillings after you have had teeth whitening.
